Cover and belly engraved with the arms of Count Henri Gatien Bertrand and his wife Fanny Dillon, with the Bertrand family motto "Dium Spiro Spero" (As long as I breathe, I hope), with two circular handles, chiselled in borders of a frieze of acanthus leaves, on a pedestal set on an oval base resting on four small round feet. Vermilion interior. Top. 14.5 cm. Minerva guarantee mark, 1st type (from 1838); goldsmith's mark (illegible). Coat of arms of Count Bertrand: quarterly: in the first of the military counts; in the second Or, in the shadow of the sun radiating Or, a palm tree Vert issuant from the point and fructed from the field, three to the dexter, three to the sinister, set two and one, in the fourth Azure a crest Or issuant from the point.
