Aubusson carpet, Louis-Philippe period. Flat carpet, tapestry technique. (Slight wear, small accidents, two edges missing). Length: 545 cm; Width: 470 cm. This interesting, large rug features a large central octagon of ivory and pink, enhanced in the center by a bouquet of flowers bordered by eight small medallions with acanthus leaf and shell motifs. They are attached to a wide oval border with a garland of flowers by interlaced leaves ending in scrolls, revealing the shell motif once again. Red border with acanthus and finials. Compositions of gold leaves on a blue background in the four spandrels. A brown border with flowery cartouches and squares surrounds the composition.
