Sharps hunting rifle with Maynard primer system, 52 caliber. Strong, square barrel with detent and tunnel sight, with "SHARPS RIFLE MFG Co .... CONN". Rear lock with hammer. Maynard priming system stamped "Edward Meynard Patented 1845" numbered "1688". Tailstock stamped "SHARP'S PATENT 1848" and numbered "1688" en suite (with diopter slot). Walnut stock with brass patch box. Barrel length: 68 cm. Overall length: 111 cm. A.B.E. Scratches present (heavy internal pitting).
