Édouard MANET (1832-1883) - Lot 1
Édouard MANET (1832-1883)
Berthe Morisot (2nd pl.). 1872. Lithograph. 135 x 185 (the sheet: 402 x 565 mm). Guérin 78. Beautiful and rare proof of the 1st state (of 2), before the letter, formerly washed, the chine reassembled. Small oblique black thread-like trace in the background above the shoulder on the right. Small gray dot in the lower part of the subject on the right chest, caused by a foreign body inherent in the chine. Horizontal ripples across the leaf. Scratches in the lower corners, with surface fracture at the lower left edge (due to fading). A spot of rust in the lower margin and scattered very light foxing. Several pieces of adhesive around the edge of the verso leaf. Full margins.
Provenance: collection of the painter Ignacio Zuloaga y Zabaleta (1870-1945), then by descent.
Expert : Hélène BONAFOUS-MURAT
