French school circa 1800 after the Antiquity Portraits of the Roman emperors Sylvius Otho and Aulius Vitellius Silvius Otho VIII; Aulius Vitellius IX Two small busts in bronze with brown patina, on gray marble columns, pedestals and bases in gilded bronze. Titled M SYLVIUS OTHO VIII and AVLLVS VITELLIUS IX (Some traces of oxidation and patina wear). Height 28 and 27.5 cm Related works : - Rome, first half of 2nd century AD, Bust of a man known as "Vitellius Grimani", marble, Venice, Museo archeologico nazionale di Venezia ; These two small nude busts of emperors were part of a suite of twelve bronzes inspired by the Lives of the Twelve Caesars by the Roman author Suetonius.
