An artist of Romanian origin, Theodor Pallady (1871-1956) settled in France at the end of the 19th century and rubbed shoulders with Albert Marquet, Georges Rouault, Constantin Brancusi and Henri Matisse. Matisse became his teacher for a few years and had a definite influence on his work on the female nude and color.
