PARIS, after Johann Gottfried SCHADOW Bisque... - Lot 199 - Audap & Associés
PARIS, after Johann Gottfried SCHADOW Bisque bust representing Louise of Prussia dressed in antique style and wearing a turban tied on her head, holding back her long hair. 19th century (Dirt, glitter.) Height. 49 cm ; Width of the base : 28 cm ; Depth : 21 cm Cf: Louise of Prussia (1776-1810), is the daughter of Duke Charles II of Mecklenburg-Strelitz. She married in 1793 the future king of Prussia, Frederick William III. Louise of Prussia, known for her beauty, was an opponent of Napoleon's policy, due in particular to the confrontation between the two countries. As witnessed by the battle of Jena, when the French troops entered the Prussian territory, she fled to Königsberg. Her untimely death in 1810 is accompanied by many artistic representations like ours, exalting her Prussian patriotism. Expert : Manuela Finaz de Villaine
