[BRUNO Giordano]. The Reformed Heaven. An attempt to transla - Lot 5
[BRUNO Giordano]. The Reformed Heaven. An attempt to translate part of the Italian book Spaccio della bestia trionfante. Without place, without name, the year 1000 700 50; in-12 of [2] ff. 92 p., contemporary marbled basane binding, smooth spine decorated with gilt designs, red edges. Spine rebound. Rare reissue of a book which, fighting superstition (Religion), had caused its author to be burned in a public place in Rome in 1600 by decision of the Roman Inquisition. The two vignettes, engraved on copperplate by F.A. Aveline, a Parisian artist, suggest that the book was printed in France. Small edition by the abbot of Vougny for amateurs who were looking for the untraceable edition of 1584.
