Louis XVI-Revolution hussars officer's sword.
Copper filigree handle. Gilded brass mount. Pommel in helmet. One-branch hilt and two mumps in baguette. Curved blade, (stitching at the tip, shortened), engraved on one side "La Loi, Le Roi" (the King crossed out by guilloche but visible) and, on the other side, "pour la Nation" (for the Nation); flat-backed, counter-edged and gutter. Wooden scabbard covered with basane with two large brass fittings decorated with lines and a leather puncture, with two reinforcing rods and two rings for hanging.
