Patent No. 2841 dated 18 August 1874. With its important wax seal to Queen Victoria on horseback, in its white metal case, partly black lacquered. In its wooden case covered with morocco decorated with iron and marked with the gold of the great British arms " ABEL & IMRAY - OFFICE FOR PATENTS 20 SOUTHAMPTON BUILDINGS - CHANCERY LANE, LONDON. ". A.B.E. Félix-Paul-Ernest de Lalande (Albi, Tarn, 16/1/1845-11/12/1919 Paris 7e), former student of the École Polytechnique, civil engineer of the Mines. Alizarin is a red dye of vegetable origin, extracted from the root of the madder of the dyers.
