CHRISTOFLE and Émile-Auguste REIBER (1826-1893). - Lot 203
CHRISTOFLE and Émile-Auguste REIBER (1826-1893). Jewelry case in shaded gilt bronze with reddish-brown patina, with chased decoration on all sides of florets, festoons and acanthus leaves. Padded interior lined with light beige silk. Height 10 cm; Width: 17.7 cm; Depth: 11 cm. This elegant jewelry cassette is a testament to the refinement and eclecticism of Émile-Auguste Reiber, in collaboration with Christofle. Head of the famous silversmith's design and composition workshop in the 1870s, Reiber was one of the main introducers of Japonism into French decorative arts, subtly blending oriental influences with European tradition. A rare object, this set also fits into the context of the great industrial exhibitions of the late 19th century, where Christofle presented innovative works to critical acclaim.
