French school circa 1730, workshop of Nicolas de LARGILLIÈRE - Lot 35
French school circa 1730, workshop of Nicolas de LARGILLIÈRE (1656-1746). Bust portrait of a young girl. Canvas. (Some scattered damages.) Height 85 cm; Width: 68 cm. Wooden frame with gilded stucco, probably 18th century (accidents and missing parts). Considered one of the masters of French portraiture at the turn of the 17th and 18th centuries, Largillière directed a workshop that included many great artists, including Jean-Baptiste Oudry and Joseph-André Cellony. Our model's face and attitude are typical of the work produced by Largillière and his pupils. The swirling drapery of our portrait, for example, is similar to that of the portrait of the Comtesse de Castelblanco in the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. Expert : Cabinet TURQUIN - Stéphane PINTA
