Album by the sculptor Augustin COURTET (1821-1890), with drawings and autographs. In-4, romantic eggplant long-grain morocco binding, gilt fillet decoration on boards, Simier label (worn binding, top board detached). Autograph poems signed at the beginning and end of the album: header poem by Jacques ANCELOT, 14 verses on Venice: "Et toi, Venise, adieu!"...; at the end, 8 verses by Victor HUGO, signed "V.H. Marie T", 8 verses from his play Marie Tudor (1833), last verse of the song from scene 5 of the first day: "Vois-tu, toute la Vie Tient dans ces quatre mots, All the good we envy, All the good without the bad! All that can seduce All that can charm... Sing and laugh, Sleep, love!" Another 6 verses in pencil by Eugène VERCONSIN. Some sixty leaves feature pencil drawings, sometimes enhanced, some annotated, by COURTET: sketches of statues (including the Centauresse and Faune group, a nymph, etc.) and decorations, a few portraits, etc. Expert : Thierry BODIN
