VOLTAIRE, Romans et Contes. Bouillon, Société Typographique, 1778; three volumes in-8, VI-304, VIII-320, VI-236-102 pages, the latter part being l'Homme aux Quarante Ecus, full porphyry calf, ornate ribbed spine, green morocco title and greef, triple gilt fillet on covers, gilt edges. Contemporary binding. On the flyleaf of Volume I is a label from the bookseller Fauvel, based in Lorient at the time. Highly illustrated with a portrait of Voltaire engraved by Cathelin after La Tour, 13 vignettes by Monnet and 57 fine hors-texte figures, including 2 frontispieces, first edition (before being numbered) by Monnet (whose great work this is), Marillier, Martini and Moreau. A very fine copy.
