GAUGUIN Paul. Noa Noa. Voyage à Tahiti. Paris, G. Crès et Cie, [1936] ; large in-4, publisher's rafia boards, title in red, the dust jacket attached to a black morocco folder with case by Bérengère Polack. Beautiful facsimile of the autograph diary kept by Gauguin during his first stay in Tahiti from 1891 to 1893. He illustrated it with numerous drawings, watercolors and woodcuts. Georges-Daniel de Monfreid, the last owner of the original manuscript, donated it to the Musée du Louvre in 1927. French edition printed in Berlin, in an edition of 100 copies (no. 85). The dust jacket is beautifully illustrated with woodcuts by Monfrais after Gauguin. Beautifully embellished copy by Bérengère Polack.
