An important treatise on military art, famous for its rich illustrations. Incomplete with several leaves, but featuring 118 FULL-PAGE FIGURES ENGRAVED ON WOOD after a German artist: mobile cannons, tanks, telescopic ladders, slings and catapults, scuba divers, rams, hydraulic machines... Lansquenet's handsome portrait is said to represent Emperor Maximilian of Germany.
French translation by Nic. Volcyr de Sérouville, dedicated to François de Valois, dauphin of France, who died the year this book was published. Four marginal tears, not missing.
