MARCELLUS Viscount Lodoïs of Tyrac. Souvenirs de l'Orient. Paris, Debécourt, 1839; 2 volumes in-8 contemporary midnight blue half calf, spine ribbed and decorated (slight rubbing). First edition, accompanied by a folded map and 2 plates engraved on metal, one of which represents the Venus de Milo at the time of its discovery. Marcellus succeeded in having it shipped to France while Turkey and England were fighting over it. Autograph ex-dono signed by the viscountess of Marcellus, born Forbin. She was the daughter of the count of Forbin.
