CITROËN André. - CITROËN EXPEDITION CENTER-ASIA. The Yellow Cruise. Third mission. Georges-Marie Haardt, Louis Audouin-Dubreuil. By Georges Le Fèvre. Paris, Plon, 1933; large volume in-4, contemporary binding in lemon morocco, Chinese stamp with red background on the upper board, spine with 3 and 2 nerves (one of them slightly rubbed), gilt head, cover and spine. First edition accompanied by 62 plates reproducing 123 photographs taken on the spot or reproducing drawings by Jacovleff. The car raid organized by André Citroën took place from Beirut to Peking (13 000 km) from April 1931 to February 12, 1932. The team included a radio operator, a filmmaker, the painter and illustrator Alexandre Jacovleff and a paleontologist, Father Pierre Teilhard de Chardin. Citroën wanted to demonstrate that it was possible to abolish geographical, cultural and political borders in the world thanks to the automobile. One of 350 copies on Madagascar paper, the only large paper.
