DREYFUS AFFAIRS - Suite of 70 original photographs taken in 1899, mounted on 11 cardboard plates, framed with red ink and captioned in pencil. Several of them bear the dry stamp of Samuel Gerschell, a prominent photographer of the time. Others, missed or faded, are not taken into account.

Iconographic memorial constituted during the second trial of Captain Dreyfus where the main figures linked to the event appear. After Émile Zola's article in L'Aurore ("J'accuse...", 1898), the Cour de Cassation had, on June 3, 1899, annulled the 1894 judgment condemning Dreyfus. On June 9, the prisoner left Devil's Island and was transferred to the military prison in Rennes. It was in this city that the second trial took place and that most of the photographs were executed. On September 9, Dreyfus was again condemned but with extenuating circumstances. Ten days later the President of the Republic, Etienne Loubet, pardoned him. Captain Dreyfus had to wait until 1906 to finally be rehabilitated. - Main names mentioned in the captions:
