JAPAN, Kutani kilns - MEIJI period (1868-1912) Large covered bowl in iron-red, black, green and gold enameled porcelain decorated with medallions of phoenix, tama, crane, paulownia, dragon and minogam turtle on a background of foliage scrolls, the interior adorned with furniture subjects and a branch of peonies, the handle of the lid forming a pomegranate. (Accident to the socket, crack to the body, chip and firing crack to the lid, wear to the enamels).
