Cresner Collection, London - Sale, London, Sotheby's, 19.04.1978, n° 151 - Sale in Paris, "Tableaux et dessins du XIXe siècle", Sotheby's, June 25, 2008, no. 41 (18,750 ?). A pupil of Drolling and Picot, Maillot exhibited at the Paris Salon as early as 1852, two years before winning the Prix de Rome with Abraham washing the feet of three angels. He drew most of his inspiration from Christian history, and took part in the great decorations of Amiens Cathedral, Notre-Dame de Paris and the Pantheon.
