Entourage of Hyacinthe RIGAUD Presumed portrait... - Lot 46 - Audap & Associés
Entourage of Hyacinthe RIGAUD Presumed portrait of Louis III Le Peletier de Rosanbo (1690-1770) About 1710 Oval canvas Height : 74 cm 74 cm ; Width : 59 cm Louis III Le Peletier, Marquis de Rosanbo, was the first President of the Paris Parliament after his father, and came from one of the main dynasties of the Parisian Robe: from 1686 to the Revolution, there was always a Le Peletier President of the Paris Parliament. His grandfather, Claude Le Peletier de Mortefontaine, a powerful servant of the State, was provost of the merchants of the city of Paris and superintendent general of finances after the death of Colbert. In 1717, Louis III married Thérèse Hennequin d'Ecquevilly, daughter of André, general captain of the King's hunting cloths, tents and pavilions for boar hunting. Two children were born from their union: Louis IV Le Peletier de Rosanbo, president à mortier at the President of Paris in the strictest family tradition; and Françoise-Thérèse, wife of Joseph Maurice Annibal de Montmorency-Luxembourg. This work on canvas is very similar to the work on paper that belonged to Robert Charles Jean-Baptiste de Bailliencourt dit Curcol (1826-1893), whose collection was dispersed upon his death in 1893. The work on paper is now in a private collection after having been sold at Thierry de Maigret on 27 November 2009 (lot 107). Expert : Cabinet Éric TURQUIN
