FLAUBERT Gustave. Autograph plan of a history... - Lot 112 - Audap & Associés
FLAUBERT Gustave. Autograph plan of a history composition. S.l.n.d.; 2 pages in-folio very filled. Stamp of the VENTE FLAUBERT. Flaubert, still a teenager or young student, draws a plan to be developed. Under his signature "Gve Flaubert" at the head he writes: "Sommaire. First part". He divides it into "Three elements: I Christian. - II Roman. - Barbarian" with subdivisions. On the back, in a finer and faster handwriting, he begins to dissert: "Opposition of the ancient freedom and the freedom of the Middle Ages". The role of the clergy in civil affairs already preoccupies him and he comes back to it several times in this beginning of his talk.
